Can you REALLY make your first affiliate sale in 24 hours or is that just talk?
Let me start by saying I'm writing this article early in the blogging process - so I can remember the frustrations of being new at blogging. I think all the pro-bloggers write great informative blogs, e-books to help those who are starting out, BUT they forget a few of the frustrations that new bloggers run into when trying to start from scratch. They give very general points of information but forget that maybe instead of starting with (only 1000) followers, you are actually starting with 12. So I'm trying to make note of the how's and why's of the small successes I'm having in the beginning of blogging.
I actually did purchase the eBook you may have seen floating around, called "How to Make Your First Affiliate Sale in 24 hours". And that's a big deal to me - I am the ultimate penniless blogger. I'm not poor, but I'm paying for 3 kids in private school with college and cars looming in sight with a mortgage and all life's expenses, so those things are where my pennies have to go right now. I had allowed myself maybe $50 total to invest in this blog adventure. I also spent money on my domain and hosting plus $5 to get going on Boardbooster. Any money I made going forward could be put towards the blog, but I needed to start making more than a few pennies quick! (I do realize that in a real way, you have to spend money to make money, but there are also times when if you can, you just have to dig deep and figure out a few thing for yourself, put your nose down and work for the information.)
If you are new to blogging, you will quickly realize that everyone and their dog would like to sell you an online course or an e-book to get you going on the "perfect" formula to make your blog a success. The honest ones will tell you that you can't do this in a single day, but that it takes patience, persistence and time. But there are also the (very tempting) ones that promise you how to turn into a blogging sensation OVERNIGHT! Or, make money in your sleep! Within two months, you'll be making $10,000 a month!!
So, why did I choose this book? Well, after much research and reading many articles about marketing and blogging (plus hour after hour of trying to gain a following on Facebook), I had finally come to the realization that Pinterest was going to be my avenue to more website traffic. I had been overwhelmed with social media and where to put my time, so finally deciding to focus on Pinterest was a bit of a relief. I dug in. Read everything I could on Google and Pinterest itself to find the top bloggers and learn how they used Pinterest best. There are some obviously reputable bloggers out there with some great programs, but they were just too pricey for me. Even if they did have the return promised, I just couldn't financially take the gamble. This book by Elise McDowell from The House of Brazen was only $25. I knew for sure I needed some solid direction when putting together my Pinterest strategy.
It paid off. For me though, it didn't quite work in 24 hours. But I can say that in 24 hours, I was excited and pumped with a clear strategy to move upon. I think you can make your first affiliate sale in 24 hours, but you will have to have several factors in place first. (Just two examples - 1. You gotta have your blog set and ready to receive the traffic and subscribers - or at least you'll want to. 2. You'll need to be the member of some group boards on Pinterest (this can possibly take time to figure out - how to get invited, where to find the right boards, etc.).
What you'll like about the eBook is the outline of a simple strategy you can follow to get your first affiliate sale. You will have to fill in some of the blanks, but these blanks are easy to figure out and move forward with. It will take persistence and effort. If I were to go back again, I would buy it and I do recommend it. Here's an easy link to get the book. I say go for it! Although I made my first Affiliate sale several days after implementing the book, I can say that my Pinterest pins and views more than quadrupled, and my blog traffic even increased, even though I wasn't even pointing folks back to my website (yet). I say that's a pretty good return. And I'm excited for the future. I'm excited for you! Have you bought the book? Let me know in the comments and tell me what you think or what your hesitations are.
